Carter to Face Opponent in General Election

State Sen. Jason Carter will face retired teacher Kenneth Brett Quarterman in the November election.

State Senator Jason Carter (D-Atlanta) will face-off for the District 42 seat against retired teacher Kenneth Brett Quarterman in the general election this November.

District 42 includes many neighborhoods from Buford Highway to Dekalb Avenue including North Druid Hills, Morningside, Druid Hills, East Lake, Kirkwood and Edgewood.

Carter, 36, won a special election in May 2010 for the District 42 seat. He replaced former Sen. David Adelman, who was appointed ambassador to Singapore.

Carter won the general election later that year to secure a two-year term.

Quarterman, 71, ran for the House District 85 seat in 2010 unsuccessfully.

The former teacher is running on the Republican ticket.

The general election is set for Nov. 6.
