DeKalb County Delegation to Hold Series of Town Hall Meetings
One of three meetings will be held at Cross Keys High School on Dec. 13.
The DeKalb County Legislative Delegation of the Georgia House will hold three upcoming town hall meetings: Thursday, Dec. 13 at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, Jan. 3 at 6 p.m.; and Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 6:30 p.m.
The purpose of these meetings is to discuss important issues and initiatives likely to come before the General Assembly in the 2013 legislative session. The delegation would also like to hear comments and concerns from their constituents as they prepare for the upcoming legislative session. All county residents are strongly encouraged to attend.

I'm disappointed with the legislative representation. Its seems that punishing the current elected county officials is the goal of the legislature instead of what is good for all the citizens of DeKalb. A majority of the voters on the northside of the county are now trying to form little cities for a variety of reason with a common rallying call about the county sending their money to south DeKalb. A common voice out of south DeKalb seems to shout they are being treated like second class citizens because they are don't have the money that north DeKalb possesses. The state and county govt has been doing the same thing for as long as their has been a county and the complainants never change. It is time to try something different. Divide the county into townships and have the townships provide services like code enforcement, permits, zoning in conjunction with the current county master plan, recreation at existing parks and any new parks and limited public works. Services where the economy of scale benefits the all the citizens should be the responsibilty of the county, public safety, public health, water and sewer and a majority of public works like traffic maintainence. Moving us backwards into a situation where they are clear lines of have and have nots will be protrayed in the most damaging ways: racial and partisan.
