Door-to-Door Meat Sales Scam in Medlock?
A Medlock resident said two men came to her home trying to get her to buy frozen meat and chicken for cheap recently. The verdict from residents: It was a scam.
Have you had anyone come to your front door on behalf of a "Country Fresh Foods" trying to get you to buy cheap meat and chicken?
If so, it's probably a scam, some Medlock residents said.
From the resident in the Medlock Park Neighbors group on Facebook on May 3:
Anyone know if Country Fresh Foods is a legit company? 2 guys in a pickup just stopped at our house on Willivee Place to try and sell me frozen organic beef and chicken for really cheap. The story he gave me about why he wanted to sell it so cheaply was kind of sketchy so I was a little suspicious.
The post received a torrent of responses from residents sure the setup was a scam. Sure enough, there aren't any terribly convincing references through a simple Google search. The Better Business Bureau has a listing for a Country Fresh Foods in Riverdale just south of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, but the site link doesn't work, and the BBB says the business isn't BBB-accredited.
A resident linked to a blog post about a popular meat scam.
"Same scam used for years for driveway repaving, but mostly in rural areas," another resident wrote. "The truck shows up and tells you they have some asphalt left over from a local roadwork project and they'll bring it to you house and give you a great deal. They insist you pay before they'll bring it, they leave and the crew never shows up."
We've had a couple scams like this in the North Druid Hills-Briarcliff area. There was the Lakeside Valhalla scam last year. Then there was the hug-and-old-lady scam in Henderson Estates as well.
