Good Growth DeKalb to Hear from RaceTrac Protesters
The group will also discuss Decatur Crossing, the new proposed retail center in North Decatur.
Good Growth DeKalb, the North Decatur community group fighting the construction of a Walmart Supercenter at Suburban Plaza, might take a few tips Tuesday from residents who successfully beat back a proposed RaceTrac gas station in Sargent Hills late last month.
The group will meeting with some Sargent Hills protesters in North Decatur Presbyterian Church at 7 p.m., according to an announcement on its website.
Good Growth DeKalb will also discuss Decatur Crossing, a new retail center proposed at the intersection of North Decatur Road and Scott Boulevard.

I think it says alot about the standing of GGD that they are having a meeting with someone to try and figure out their situation. Totally different situation between the WalMart redevelopment and the RaceTrac development (note... not RE in that word). RaceTrac was starting from scratch in developing land... that also needed to be rezoned. WalMart is simply improving an already existing shopping center.

No one is trying to figure out the GGD situation. There are many differences, not just the one you pointed out.
But inviting a group that GGD and GGD's supporters supported will be nice. I'll be there! I love coalition building and good growth in our county!!!

From one Deanne to another (and gosh! what's this, the 3rd new one in 2 weeks?) -- You definitely might want to catch up on Patch's past coverage or even just ask around about GGD's idea of "coalition building and good growth" before getting your hopes up that it's anything positive. Lots of ugly noise and accusations; short on facts and accomplishments. But hey, they've sure had fun doing it.
