Lakeside's volleyball team finishes the season in the final four in Georgia High School Association's 5A state playoffs. After winning the 6AAAAA region and taking three tough matches in the state playoffs, Lakeside could not fight off Whitewater in the semi-finals last Wednesday night.

Lakeside has been a GHSA team since 2009 and a club team before that. Henderson Middle School helps develop players, and players participate on club teams Tsunami DeKalb and Tsunami South and A-5 in Alpharetta. Graduating senior players are co-captains Jenny Miller and Amy VanSant, Brittany Scott, Jasmine Echols and Emma Wakeman.

"We had a massive fan turnout in Peachtree City [for the semi-final game]," said Kelly VanSant, Lakeside volleyball's booster club president. Van Sant also plays the game and helped build the beach volleyball court at Twin Lakes Swim and Tennis Club along with Bill McGoldrick, a player and parent of junior player, Gloria.
