Man Robbed at Gunpoint Outside Northlake Mall
The 23-year-old victim was robbed in the parking lot Wednesday morning.
UPDATE, 12:15 p.m.: Carly Dennis, who manages public relations for Northlake Mall, said Friday morning the armed robbery did not happen at Northlake Mall but rather across Briarcliff Road on Publix property near a bus stop. North Druid Hills-Briarcliff Patch is confirming this with DeKalb County police.
An Atlanta man was robbed at gunpoint in Northlake Mall's parking lot Wednesday morning, DeKalb County police said.
A man carrying a black handgun confronted the 23-year-old victim and told him to empty his pockets and turn away at 7:15 a.m., the police report said.
The victim gave the man his wallet and his iPhone, and the suspect ran toward Lavista Road. The victim was not injured.

It would be interesting to know the % of Americans in favor of executing people that commit these crimes on the spot when caught. Put me down for a yes.

Executing would cost too much....just chop off his hand. That would probably be a pretty good deterrent.

There doesn't have to be a cost. I will supply a rope or the requisite bullets myself. I'm saying on the spot. Not after a lengthy appeals process and 20 years in prison on the taxpayer dime. We need to rid our society of scum that preys on others.

Actually no, but I do like that aspect of their politics. But my younger brother was murdered for about $25. A thug walked up behind him, shot him without even speaking to him and took his wallet. Were you raised in a home where no one was murdered for absolutely no reason? My guess is yes, as it much easier to forgive this kind of thing when it happens to someone else. Maybe your innocent wife or child will be killed one day and you can come here and tell us about forgiveness or rehabilitation. Maybe it's acceptable to you that there are many areas that are not safe for ordinary Americans to enter. It isn't to me.

I agree with Brett. Unless you or someone you love dearly has been a victim of a violent crime, you just don't get it. Trust me. You just don't get it. Period Jonathan. As smart as you are, you just don't get it. It's visceral.

I can't disagree with you, N.G. I know very little about a situation like that. That said, I'm not sure you need to to suggest that capital punishment for a person who didn't kill anyone else is extreme.

I think what he was really saying we need to be much tougher on crime. It's time people stand up and say enough and if that means 20 people jumping a bad guy during the commission of a crime or people calling 911 as soon as they see something suspect. We must get involved because the criminals think they have us all afraid.
