POLL: Do You Shop at North DeKalb Mall?

How often do you patronize the stores and shops with the giant shopping center on North Druid Hills Road? Vote in our poll and tell us.

Driving down North Druid Hills Road this week, I noticed a new billboard standing above Grand Slam Golf & Baseball.

It reads, "Rediscover North DeKalb Mall" (or something to that effect). It's clear they're trying to lure people back. It got me to wondering: Do people in our community still shop there? The parking lots often seem relatively empty, but I've purchased a few things there. I get my fitted baseball caps from Foot Locker, and I've purchased a few shirts and pairs of pants from Burlington Coat Factory. Nothing else, really.

But save for holiday shopping, the place does seem to carry an echo most of the time. Ideally, with Northlake Mall to our north, the North Druid Hills-Briarcliff area should be an ideal place for shopping, but I suspect that, for many, it isn't based on what I read and what I hear from people.

Tell me. Did you ever shop at North DeKalb Mall? Did you ever stop? What's your take? Vote in the poll, and tell me in the comments section below.

It is a really tired way of shopping. There nothing special or unique about it.

Don't really go to any malls very much. They seem like such and "old" tedious way to shop. Online and specialty stores have my business.

I would shop there more if it were nicer. Now I only go there if I need something and don't have time to drive further.

On the occasions that I do go I get annoyed that they do not have what I want and then vow to never return. Rinse, lather, repeat.

At one time I never shopped anyplace BUT North Dekalb Mall. Sadly those days are long gone. Now it is little more than a flea market/junk mall, there is really nothing there i want or need. Even macys is lacking in any quality merchandise. it is sad, really. I don't understand it either, because there ARE people living around the area with incomes to support better stores.

The mall is in a good loation, however it needs a major over-haul, and many more major anchor stores, like Costco, Trader Joe's, Sears, etc. Plus, there are TOO FEW main entrances, and too few nice restaurants.

I agree about Trader Joe's! This area really needs one. C'mon North DeKalb Mall - call Trader Joe's to set something up.

The theater there is great. They do $5 matinees on weekends. It's often mostly empty and the not nearly as ear-bleedingly loud as most theaters (like the Regal near Shallowford).

We also attend chess tournaments at the mall regularly. When we do we're there all day and need snacks. The new popcorn place has sinfully good caramel corn and the family who runs the pretzel place is nice and sell yummy Republic of Tea.

Oh, c'mon. The louder the theater the better.

I also love the $5 movies at the AMC Theater! I go on weekday afternoons while it isn't busy so that I can practically have the auditorium to myself. The chinese place is pretty good - I like to top off my movie theater popcorn with some Mr. Wok after the show. :)

I shop at Macy's there and love it! Come on people it's convenient and does not have overpriced stores like the malls in Buckhead! Love the theaters also.

I don't shop ANYWHERE as much as I'd like. The government has taxed us to pieces! But, when I do shop, it's usually at No. DeKalb. Breaks my heart to see so many businesses closing. I'm thrilled to see the new eateries coming in.

I don't go to malls very often anymore, period. I don't like to shop and I don't have a lot of extra money. I do go to NDM occasionally, though. I shop at Macy's, Ross, Marshall's, and last week I went to Burlington for the first time in years (and found something I needed at a great price!).

I don't shop any retail malls with the frequency I used to. However I do go to Atlanta Jewelers to have watch batteries replaced, the sporting goods store, Macy's for holiday and other gifts, shoe store, Bath & Body Works, Ross & Burlington, & AMC Theatre. These merchants need us &they did not flee our neighborhood. Save gas and the local economy..shop North DeKalb Mall!

The mall is very convenient for the Druid Hills, Toco Hills, and Decatur areas and has great anchor stores like Marshalls, Macy's, Ross and Burlington. Golden Corral will be a nice addition too! The mall was recently painted and had the parking lot re-striped and curbs painted; the new sign on L-ville Hwy entrance is awesome too! Hope more improvements keep coming. The new shops inside the mall are surprisingly good, like "GAS-ART" the award winning children's book illustrator and artist, DCI Styles men's clothing, Devon's Popcorn, the great store selling Lladro collection items....hope more keep coming, and our neighbors support the mall and help the turn around it's trying to make!

North Dekalb Mall is up and coming and being rediscovered in more ways then one. Exciting new eateries have arrived and Golden Corral is soon to be another family restaurant coming soon. The new marquee is blazing hot as well as the new stores/fitness center. That's right Zumba classes are now offered at North Dekalb mall on a regular basis - So the mall is reaching out to everyone and setting precedents in other areas which is very exciting.

I occasionally go to the mall because there are good fast food restaurants like Mr. Wok, American Deli, and Wendys. I just realize I am a regular customer for about 5 years:) Also, the mall gets better and new stores are coming recently.

This is amazing. I drive through the mall (to Quick Trip) weekly. You guys all must be the 15 cars I see in the parking lot every week.

The mall does have some great anchor tenants. I go to Burlington every year for my boys winter coats and shop Marshalls pretty frequently. The Macy's is much better than the Northlake Macy's, better selection. I hope it only continues to get better!!!

I love the Marshall's - it is super nice. The Ross and Burlington are decent too. The great inexpensive movie theater and Play it again Sports are also a draw for my family, but the rest of the mall leaves something to be desired. I wish there were more options, but I think North Dekalb and Northlake are just too close to Lenox. If you need serious shopping, you really just have to buck up and go to Lenox. My location in Briarcliff Hoods makes it almost as convenient to get to Lenox as North Dekalb, especially during non-peak shopping hours like early morning during the week.

We just moved our Paint Your Own Pottery studio - "That Pottery Place" - from Suburban Plaza to North Dekalb Mall (we are on the Food Court in the old Waldenbooks space). Suburban tried to get Trader Joe's but they are not expanding in the Atlanta area, and Brookhaven got the Costco. We also live nearby. I shopped last week at the Burlington and got outfits for myself, my daughter and my granddaughter, for very good prices and they had a great selection. The movies are inexpensive and convenient. The more the neighborhoods support the businesses, the better the business will be. Come in and tour the studio. we'd love to see you.
