Report: Large Expansion Headed for Patel Plaza

"At least 20 new businesses" are set to open in the Church Street shopping center by the end of the year, according to Decatur Dispatch.

Patel Brothers, the Indian grocery in Patel Plaza, is in the middle of an expansion to their Church Street shopping center that could see 20 new businesses by the end of the year, according to Decatur Dispatch.

The report, which isn't available online, said construction of a new two-story building is underway, and the second story would be dedicated to healthcare businesses.

Rakesh Patel, one of the Patel brothers, also told the publication it's considering purchasing an adjacent automotive dealership lot to build an adult living community that would help feed the shopping center as well.

The brothers purchased the shopping center recently and updated the facade, and several new restaurants have opened since, including Thali, which North Druid Hills-Briarcliff Patch reviewed in June.

You can pick up Decatur Dispatch at plenty of restaurant, coffee shop and grocery locations in the Toco Hill area. Stay tuned to North Druid Hills-Briarcliff Patch for a follow-up.
