Snoogins! Filmmaker Kevin Smith Coming to North Decatur

The multi-hyphenate entertainer comes to Eagle Eye Book Shop next month in support of his book, "Tough Sh*t: Life Advice from a Fat, Lazy Slob Who Did Good."

Everyone be quiet. Silent Bob is coming to town.

The filmmaker/writer/actor/comic/fanboy/airline warrior/Ben Affleck champion also known as Kevin Smith will visit Eagle Eye Book Shop next month in support of his newest book, Tough Sh*t: Life Advice from a Fat, Lazy Slob Who Did Good.

The book comes out March 20, and Smith will be at the popular North Decatur bookstore on March 27 at 7pm, according to a schedule the store sent out to customers.

For the uninitiated, Smith rose to fame in the '90s as a New Jersey nobody who sold his comic book collection and racked up credit card debt to raise $30,000 to make Clerks, a meandering, black and white indie film chronicling the hilarious, R-rated exploits of two twentysomething convenience store clerks over the course of a work day. He shot the film in the convenience store where he worked, and Smith himself played a drug dealer named Silent Bob, a recurring character in many of his films, who is, of course, mute save for the occasional outburst of earnest profundity.

Later came indie classics Chasing Amy, Dogma and Mallrats.

Something tells me this is going to have... limited appeal with the typical North Druid Hills-Briarcliff Patch reader. But correct me if I'm wrong.

Good to know. Eagle Eye is saying it's going to be the biggest event they've ever had, so that should be interesting.
