Taqueria El Vecino Expanding Into Carolyn's Cupcakes
The Oak Grove restaurant will have to close temporarily to complete the renovations soon.
Taquería El Vecino, the popular Oak Grove Mexican restaurant, is expanding into Carolyn's Cupcakes and will have to close temporarily, the restaurant reported on its website.
The restaurant is only taking over a portion of the cupcake shop's space, and no dates for closure have been set, according to a post on the restaurant's blog.
From the post:
Taqueria El Vecino is busting down the wall and growing into Carolyn’s Cupcakes space!! Fear not, Carolyn’s is not going anywhere. We will be enlarging the kitchen and seating area of Taqueria El Vecino and sliding Carolyn’s space over a bit. We will be expanding the menu at the Taqueria to include more wonderful items from the smoker. The larger menu will also include some traditional BBQ dishes and sides (Jalapeno cornbread, pimento cheese, Brunswick stew, pulled pork BBQ, BBQ chicken. smoked turkey, pork ribs and beef brisket).
Check out the post for more information.

We eat there regularly and love the food. I hope they will take this as an opportunity to improve the decor. Keep it funky but the uneven chili lights from the ceiling tile frame really need to go. It's great to see how consistently crowded it is and the prices are very fair. Wonder if they will keep the salsa bar?
