The Toco Hill CVS on North Druid Hills Road was robbed at gunpoint early Thursday morning, DeKalb County police said – the 24-hour pharmacy's second armed robbery in three months.

A 29-year-old pharmacy employee told police she was standing outside, smoking a cigarette at about 1am when she saw a man running from the rear of the store, pointing a black handgun at her. The suspect forced the employee back into the store and then forced a customer – an Atlanta man at the register – to the floor, the police report said.

A second employee was behind the counter, and the suspect demanded he open the cash register. The second employee opened two registers, and the suspect walked behind the counter and took the money from both. The suspect also asked the second employee to open a "drop box" next to one of the registers. The employee got a key, but the key didn't work, so the employee gave the entire box to the suspect.

The robber took the box, the cash and the first employee's cell phone – valued at about $500 – and fled the store on foot in an unknown direction. Police do not know how much money was in the register, and no one was injured. A pharmacist in the back of the store told police she didn't hear or witness the incident.

The robber was described as a black male about 5 feet 4 inches tall and about 150 pounds. He wore a gray T-shirt, black jeans and a black sweatshirt wrapped around his face, the report said.

The same CVS was robbed at gunpoint Dec. 9. The suspect didn't take cash from the registers but stole about $200 from two people – possibly employees – in the store.

Erin Pensa, a CVS spokesperson, declined to comment about the incident Friday.

"CVS/pharmacy prefers not to comment specifically on robbery incidents in order to avoid jeopardizing ongoing police investigations," she wrote in an email to North Druid Hills-Briarcliff Patch. "However, the safety and well-being of our customers and employees is our highest priority and we are continuing to work closely with law enforcement in their investigation of these incidents."
