Two Women Looking for Date Robbed at Gunpoint

The women met up at a Clairmont Road hotel late Wednesday night with a man they said they met on QuestChat, a website to meet singles. Then he robbed them.

Two women who said they were looking to hide out from the rain with a date at their Clairmont Road hotel room Wednesday found themselves staring down the barrel of a handgun instead, DeKalb County police said.

The women, an 18-year-old from Lithonia and a 20-year-old from Rochester, NY, told police they met a man through QuestChat, an online local singles website, according to the police report. They were staying at the Extended Stay America Hotel at 3115 Clairmont Rd. and told the man to meet them at their room.

The man arrived at about 11pm, and the 20-year-old went dowstairs to let him in the building, the police report said. When he got upstairs, the man asked the 18-year-old, "Are ya'll in this room by yourself?" and "Ya'll not trying to rob me are ya'll?"

The 18-year-old victim told the 20-year-old she had a bad feeling about the man, and the man patted himself down and said, "I ain't got nothing on me."

He said he had to go get something from his car, and when he returned, the two women each sat on a bed, and the suspect sat at the dining table. He pulled out a silver, semi-automatic handgun and pulled the slide back, causing a round to eject. He pointed the gun at them.

"You know what time it is," he said. "Where's the money?"

The suspect demanded the women lay on the floor and grabbed the 18-year-old's wallet from the nightstand. He grabbed $200 in cash, threw the wallet across the room and left.

No one was injured. When the suspect went out to his car, one of the victims said she saw him stand next to a blue 2004 Buick Regal, but police were unable to determine whether he was connected to the car.

This is the story I was thinking about. http://www.ajc.com/news/dekalb/mans-weekend-at-dekalb-642689.html I have also heard something about prostitution? Surprising for a pretty low-key area.

Oh, yeah. I vaguely remember reading about that. I may have to do a separate post on this place.

Perhaps. I'm not sure you can separate the two that easily though. Does a hotel not shoulder at least some responsibility for the actions of its customers?
