Woman Robbed at Gunpoint in Northlake Mall Parking Lot

The Monday afternoon robbery occurred in front of the Macy's store at the mall.

A woman was robbed at gunpoint in a Northlake Mall parking lot Monday, according to the North Briarcliff Civic Association.

From an email the association sent out Thursday evening:

When:   Monday, Aug 20 at approximately Noon
Where:   Parking Lot in front of Macy's at Northlake
What:     Young woman robbed at gunpoint when she opened her car door. A man wearing a baseball cap & glasses pulled into a spot near her, jumped out, aimed a gun at her stomach and took her car keys, purse, and phone.  The man was young,  Asian or Hispanic. She said it was hard to tell because of the glasses and cap.  No additional details available.

Safety Tips At the Mall:
Avoid shopping alone. Walk with other shoppers if you can.
Always be aware of your surroundings.
Park close to the  mall entrance.
If an incident occurs, give the police as accurate of a description of the person as you can remember.  (Tips for being a good witness are on the NBCA website)

The association said the report came from another unspecified Neighborhood Watch group.

Was it a man or a woman that was robbed. The headline says Woman, but the article says Man in one place and Woman in another. Please clarify!!!!

Absolutely--do not go here without backup. Interestingly, you really hear of very few parking lot robberies here considering the state of the economy and access to the highway.
Maybe Simon's little electric cars are doing pretty well.
