Nasty weather forced the event's organizers to reschedule Saturday afternoon.
Sunday's Oak Groove Festival in Vista Grove Shopping Center has been postponed until Sunday, May 19 due to the liklihood of nasty, wet weather. The event's organizers announced the rescheduling on the festival website Saturday afternoon: We are pleased to announce that all the musical acts have agreed to play on the new date. We’re betting on better weather, but regardless, the Oak Groove Music, Arts, and Food Festival will go on RAIN OR SHINE on May 19th. Read the full post for more information. Read also:

Viewers of the film Koran By Heart at Northlake-Barbara Loar Library on May 6 can take part in a discussion afterward led by Imam Plemon T. El-Amin, Imam Emeritus of the Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam. The film is a documentary about Muslim children around the world who compete in Egypt's International Koran Reading Competition. The program, scheduled from from 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m., is part of the The Bridging Cultures Bookshelf: Muslim Journeys series, which is a project of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Northlake-Barbara Loar is located at 3772 LaVista Road in Tucker.

Winner Stacie Stamper: "Everybody has a way to give."
The winner of the Patch Easter PEEPs contest is a diorama that shows a little marshmallow figure in a hard hat helping to build a home while other PEEPs cheer him (or her?) on. The entry by Stacie Stamper honors the work of the Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore, which helps support the nonprofit’s mission to provide decent housing for low-income people around the world. "That's so exciting. How fun is that?" Stamper said when she learned that her entry had won. Second place goes to Martin Burrow of Winder, who used jelly beans and a glass jar to create a colorful PEEPs floral arrangement. The Medlock Park charter school is the subject of "A Place in the World," a documentary.
Medlock Park's International Community School will host a screening next weekend of A Place in the World, a documentary that chronicles the school and its diverse study body. The screening will be held in the school cafeteria Saturday, April 27, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., according to the Medlock Area Neighborhood Association. See the MANA post for more details.
