Mike Van Wie told the American Association of Airport Executives on Sunday that the airport is considering the project for an unnamed piece of property.
DeKalb Peachtree Airport is considering building a solar farm as Georgia airports look to develop new revenue streams in a recovering economy, the airport's director said this week. Mike Van Wie didn't offer any additional details during a Sunday discussion at the American Association of Airport Executives' annual conference in Reno, Nev., according to a Monday report in Aviation News Today. The session was dedicated to discussing the creative ways airports are diversifying by developing new businesses. Uncle Maddio's Pizza Joint has opened its Northlake location. The new restaurant opened in Northlake Festival Shopping Center on Lavista Road over the weekend, according to Tucker.11alive.com. From the story: Owner Brett Pearman said, "I chose to open an Uncle Maddio's because I was blown away by their 'Served with Love' culture, by the taste, and how they interact with the community." The Northlake-Barbara Loar Library will hold the class as part of the DeKalb library's "Entrepreneur Endeavor."
Need tips on growing a business? The Northlake-Barbara Loar Library is scheduled to hold a free class on marketing and growing a company tomorrow, May 15, 12-1 p.m. The class is part of the DeKalb library system's "The Entrepreneur Endeavor" series, which it is doing in partnership with the Leadership Academy. According to the library's website, the Entrepreneur Endeavor classes "are designed to provide support to individuals interested in starting their own business as well as current entrepreneurs seeking ways to enhance their business." You know that bursting-at-the-seams rush of excitement you get when you discover a little-known eatery? The kind you can hardly contain to the point where you're texting your friends with still-greasy fingers? We recently received an e-mail in that spirit from a neighbor: An excellent hidden gem found right at our doorstep, Chateau de Saigon, just north of the intersection of Dresden on Buford Hwy (on the left). The restaurant itself is sparsely decorated and sits at the end unit of a small strip mall but the food is excellent, a combination of French and S.E. Asian cuisines. And its affordable.
