More About Mary Scott Nature Park
Mary Scott Nature Park opened in 2011 in the Briarcliff community off Briarcliff Road. The small park is mainly comprised of nature trails that wind through dense woods, which are particularly beautiful in the fall. The trails also feature small signs highlighting native plants along the way. There is also a small playground.
Land for the park was purchased by the county in 2003 for about $2.1 million, paid for with bonds and grants from the Blank Foundation and Georgia Greenspace. The land went on the market after the death of Mary Armstrong, the last person to live on it. Armstrong required the county to honor her long-time friend Scott in the naming of the park.
North Fork Peachtree Creek flows through the park.
