GSU Football Coach and Sophia Academy Dad, Trent Miles, Speaks to Middle School and High School

Sophia Academy provides a HEROS program featuring speakers to our Middle and High School students.  Speakers include people who have championed a cause, survived a loss, accomplished something extraordinary, overcome a learning difference or illness, triumphed over financial burdens or have risen above a physical challenge.

Sophia Academy dad and GSU Football Coach Trent Miles spoke to middle and high school students March 26th on leadership and discipline.  "I have coached at college and NFL teams, and remember lots of great plays.  I have won and lost games.  But in the end, this life is about the choices you make and the kind of person you are.  The first sign in our locker rooms is "RESPECT" and you are going to get what you want in life if you respect yourself and each other.  You are a team just like a football team, and each person is an important part.  We have expectations about how you act and present yourself, just like you have uniform codes to tuck your shirt in and look your best.  If you  follow the rules on the smaller things, then when it's the fourth quarter and I need a player I can trust to follow directions, you might be it.  It's about the discipline of what you do every day," he reported.

"College kids are a lot like you.  They just got back from spring break too, and they are off their schedules.  We still have weeks to go before summer, though, and we have to finish strong.   It is all mental attitude – if you are having trouble with schoolwork or your friends, you can start a new day saying "I'm going to win this day."  That can mean you turn around a bad attitude.
