Sophia Academy Track & Field

Sophia Academy’s track and field teams competed in the Atlanta Private Athletic Conference track and field championship on Tuesday, April 15th and Wednesday, April 16th. Combined, the teams earned 14 first place ribbons, 9 second place ribbons, and 22 third place ribbons. Although the boys performed well, the girls proved to be exceptional competition.

In the girls’ events, the 4x100M relay and the 4x400M relay teams – made up of Katie Hood, Beatrice Kunda, London Wallace and Jullia Wolfman – both finished first. Other notable first place ribbons on the girls’ team went to Katie Hood in the 800M, Kemi Akanle in the shot put, Beatrice Kunda in the long jump and London Wallace in the 100M, 200M and triple jump.

Sophia Academy encourages all students to develop their athletic ability. The school promotes athletic participation to improve teamwork, bolster self-confidence, and develop positive attitudes toward physical activity.  During the course of the year, eighty percent of eligible students participate in extracurricular activities.  PreK through High School, it’s the  newest Catholic school, boasting small classes and Orton-Gillingham reading approach.
