Fuqua to Revise Decatur Crossing Plan to Include Community Input

The new plan may include townhomes instead of the five-story apartment complex initially planned.

In response to the community's pushback on the plan to develop a mixed-use development Decatur Crossing at the intersection of North Decatur Road and Scott Boulevard, megadeveloper Jeff Fuqua said he has changed the development to be "more conventional."

Fuqua said he wants to meet with neighborhood groups about his plans for the seven-acre project. He told Creative Loafing late last week that his firm is working on a revised plan that will include community input.

His new plan would still have a "natural" grocery store as an anchor, but would likely have townhomes or single-family homes instead of the five-story apartment complex as initially planned, according to Creative Loafing.

At last week's DeKalb County Commission meeting, the Board of Commissioners voted to give Fuqua a 60-day, full-cycle deferral, which means the plan goes before the Community Council, Planning Commission and then BOCΒ once again. Fuqua initially requested a 30-day deferral.
