'Race Back to School' for Shopping Spree, Prizes at North DeKalb Mall

It's a good bet most kids aren't ready to rush back to the classroom in a few weeks, but North DeKalb Mall is trying to make the idea more fun.

The "Race Back to School," event, which requires ticket purchases to participate, is set for August 10, 1-4 p.m. at the mall. Here's how it works, according to a post on Eventbrite:

Race Back to School is based on the popular Shows "Amazing Race" and "Minute to Win It".  Contestants will meet at the clock court atrium, outside of Ross, to begin the race.  Each team will receive a passport with game locations and instructions.  Flags of the world will be located throughout the center.  When all games are competed and all flags are found, the team will report back to the starting point.  The winner will receive a $300 shopping spree; 2nd place $200 and 3rd place a $100 shopping spree.  In addition there will be prizes awarded along the game route.  The Race Back to School is a fun way to begin the school year!

Tickets for "Race Back to School" are purchased on Eventbrite in groups of 2, 3 or 4. The total for two is $12.54.

North DeKalb Mall wrote on its Facebook page this week that its "gathering great items from our merchants" for the event.
