More Anti-Walmart Rallies Coming

The to build a Walmart at Suburban Plaza will take it to the streets this summer.

Good Growth DeKalb says members will stand at intersections near the shopping center with signs on the second Friday of each month this summer – on June 8, July 13 and Aug. 10 from 5pm - 6:30pm. They encourage people to honk if they support their cause.

Protesters, Good Growth DeKalb says in an email, should "wear a bright yellow T-shirt. If you don't have one now, consider picking one up at Last Chance Thrift Store at Suburban Plaza. We'll also have a few on hand for you to borrow."

The group opposes construction of a Super Walmart at Suburban Plaza, located just outside the Decatur city limits, saying the store would create traffic problems and generally wouldn't be a good fit for the neighborhood.
