Target Upgrade to Include New Starbucks

The store in upgrading to its Pfresh program and should be done by early spring.

If you've been wondering what's going on over at Target on North Druid Hills Road, a local blogger said he has the answer.

And it includes a new Starbucks location, apparently.

From a comment thread on an unrelated story in Tomorrow's News Today:

In line with Target's massive updates to all of its stores, the NDH store will be upgraded to what Target calls "Pfresh." This remodel will include the addition of fresh grocery products as well as other refrigerated and frozen foods. The Target will also be getting a Starbucks location. I'm told most work will be done at night and that the hope is to have everything done by early spring. As far as what be taken away or lost as a result of the grocery addition, I'm not sure but doubt it will be anything serious. I've visited the updated "Pfresh" stores near Northlake and in Buckhead and could not tell you what was taken away or moved to make way for the grocery.

I've always wondered why this Target didn't have a full scale grocery story. They certainly have enough square footage. The other stores that were updated last year in this general area aren't full grocery stores. Their grocery selection is similar to what this NDH store has had for a long time. Limited produce and no bakery. But the Starbucks addition at Northlake is great! :) My only concern about this store is that there seems to be alot of crime there.

Who goes to a WM or Target to buy their weekly groceries? I can see maybe picking up one or two items if Im shopping there but will never not make it my "go to place" for food b/c of price.

I guess having a Starbucks at Target will save people from the tremendous trouble of crossing the street to go to the one already there.

I love Erik W's comment. I do not have enough fingers and toes to count the number of Starbucks operations within less than 2 miles of me. I don't even like Starbucks. If I'm going to buy an expensive cup of coffee, it will be at Caribou (or Dancing Goats or Java Monkey).

One thing that has never made sense to me is why isn't there a drive-through Starbucks in the Northlake Mall / Northlake Festival area? I'm sure the existing storefront starbucks could vastly increase their business. What do I know though?

If they had a full scale grocery store you might. There aren't any convenient to this area who do. Hopefully this one will.

Hate where that Starbucks is. So hard to get in and out of there. But, it's always busy so I guess alot of people don't mind.
