The Village at Druid Hills Lures Two Casual Restaurants

The shopping center at the corner of North Druid Hills and Briarcliff roads plans to open in the fall.

A new North Druid Hills shopping center set to open in the fall has lured two new casual restaurants.

The Village at Druid Hills, under construction at the corner of North Druid Hills and Briarcliff roads, will include Zoës Kitchen and Newk's Eatery, according to Tomorrow's News Today.

From the Atlanta real estate blog:

Birmingham based Zoёs Kitchen offers approachable Mediterranean fare in a casual environment and was started by Zoё and Marcus Cassimus in 1995. The chain began to expand significantly outside its home state in the late 2000s. Zoёs first entered Atlanta in 2009 with a location at Peachtree Battle, and has since grown to a total of seven locations in Georgia, most recently in Emory Village. In 2009, the chain had about 20 locations, and today is nearing 100 in only 15 states. Last month Nation's Restaurant News named Zoёs one of the Top 50 Breakout Brands of 2013.

Newk's Express Cafe Eatery has three locations in Georgia, in Lawrenceville, Brookhaven and Newnan. The restaurant chain was started by the founders of McAlister's Deli and offers a menu similar to Panera Bread, at slightly higher prices. Additionally, Newk's offers pizza, making their menu more diverse than others in the same segment.

The shopping center will also include another Sprint location and a mattress store. Read the full TNT post for more information.

Zoe is good,,, not sure about Newk's as there is a Panera right across the street and they are better and less expensive. The mattress store I can do without. Would love to see a nice hair salon, not a chain one.

Had a nice breakfast recently at the Egg Harbor Cafe in Sandy Springs. Would like to see that type of restaurant in our neighborhood. I still miss Le Peep, a great breakfast place in the Loehmann's Plaza space where Moe's is now located.

Both Zoe's and Newks are great old college favorites from Tuscaloosa. This is great.
