Wide Variety of Art, Culture and Activities to Do this Weekend

Place to go and things to do in Atlanta recommended by someone "In The Know".

Elevate South Broad Mural Festival - Saturday, 10/27/12, 4 pm to 8 pm

Tomorrow is the culmination of “Elevate 2012”, presented by City of Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs. The purpose of “Elevate 2012” is to transform buildings,  windows, sidewalks and public spaces into “works of art and inspiration” and to get folks exploring downtown.  The streets will be closed to vehicles on South
Broad Street between Martin Luther King Blvd. and Mitchell Street in downtown
Atlanta.  View specially commissioned murals along South Broad Street and enjoy a vibrant street party with live music, dancing, playing, and painting.  http://www.ocaatlanta.com/Elevatesouthbroad

Inman Park Beer Chase 5K & Beer Fest – Saturday, 10/27/12, 11 am to 4 pm

Only a place like Inman Park could combine exercise and drinking beer all to benefit the Inman Park Neighborhood Security Patrol.  The fee to participate in the race is $30 and the Beer Festival is $40 in advance and $45 at the event.  There is a combo ticket option, but I wasn’t able to figure out the cost, sorry.  For the Beer Festival, you will receive your own tasting glass and can sample up to 100 craft beers.  The race begins at 11 am at the corner of Lake Avenue and Elizabeth Street and the festival will be on Elizabeth Street between N. Highland and Lake Ave.  Parking for the event will be at the Stoveworks parking lot at 112 Krog Street  http://www.inmanparkbeerchase.com/

Hike and Seek at Peidmont Park – Saturday, 10/27/12, 10 am

Piedmont Park and the National Wildlife Federation are partnering to create an interactive hiking adventure along a 1.5 mile trail.  Along the way kids can learn about insects, reptiles, plants, mammals and birds. There will be live animals, crafts and a scavenger hunt.  The cost is adults $15($12 in advance) and kids $9($7 in advance).  Arrive between 9 am and 10 am at 1320 Monroe Drive.  www.hikeandseek.org
