  • YIAYIA’S GREEK BAKE SALE

When/Where: Friday from 9:30am to 6:30pm at the in the Atrium of the Hellenic Community Center.
Why Go: This will make a great diversion when you’re out and about running Friday errands.  Promise your kids a sweet treat and get your fill of homemade Greek baked goods including, Baklava, Kourabiedes, Koulourakia, and pans of Spanakopita or Tiropita. Spanakopita and Tiropita pans will be sold frozen with baking instructions (perfect for an easy dinner - just add salad.)
Pricing: Free and open to the community - baked good prices will vary

When/Where: Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Turner Field
Why Go: The Braves are taking on the Philadelphia Phillies for the Home Opener on Friday evening with a fireworks show to follow the game.  On Sunday, Braves alumni will sign autographs in Fan Plaza before the game, and children under 14 years of age will be invited to run the bases after the game.  And don’t forget that the Braves Museum and Hall of Fame (at Aisle 134 with $2 admission) is open two and a half hours before each game - a  great way to celebrate the start of Baseball season with your littlest sluggers.

  • LAVISTA LIONS CLUB PANCAKE BREAKFAST

When/Where: Saturday from 9am to noon in Milligan Hall at
Why Go:  Join the LaVista Lions Club for a delicious pancake breakfast including sausage, grits, fruit cup, juice and coffee.  Afterwards, head down the road to W.D. Thompson Park to walk off that breakfast with a lovely nature walk on the wooded trails - or bring your breakfast to the park for a morning picnic.
Pricing:  Eat In or Take Out - $6

  • STORYTIME, FEEDING FROGS AND A PLANT SALE

When/Where: Through Sunday at the .
Why Go:  It’s a big Spring Break week at the Botanical Garden and a great time to visit. Along with the pure pleasure of the amazing abundance of Spring blooms, walking through the treetops, and the fun to be had in the Children’s Garden, here are some family-friendly highlights:

  • Through Friday, daily Storybook Time at 10:30am in the Children’s Garden Amphitheater.
  • Also through Friday, join an Amphibian Specialist in the Fuqua Conservatory lobby for a Frog Talk at 10am or for Frog Care at 11am. (Frog feeding also occurs on Saturday at 11am.)
  • On Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 4pm, the Chattahoochee Unit of The Herb Society of America will hold its annual plant sale. After you have fun in the garden with your children, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase rare and unusual herbs and specialty crafts.  Society Members will also give herbal demonstrations and will be able to answer your questions.

  • WEBSTER THE MUSICAL SPIDER AND FERDINAND THE BULL

When/Where: Sunday at 4pm at Emory University in the Reception Hall.
Why Go: Family Concerts at the Carlos are a fantastic way to introduce children of all ages to chamber music. The concerts are performed by The Emory Chamber Music Society of Atlanta and/or special guest artists.
  This Family Concert features composer Valerie von Pechy Whitcup's original tale performed by the Serafin String Quartet and narrator Richard Prior.
Pricing: $4. Children under three are free.
*The Carlos Museum is also hosting Spring Break Art Week with events all day on Wednesday and Friday.  The events are included with Museum admission, are appropriate for children ages 5 years old and up, and no pre-registration is required.
