How to Recycle Christmas Trees

DeKalb County has a Christmas tree recycling site in the North Druid Hills-Briarcliff area.

Now that Christmas is over, people who wish to recycle their live Christmas trees have two different options for disposal, one beginning as soon as Dec. 27 in some cases.

If you are already serviced by DeKalb County residential trash pickup, just place the tree out with the other trash on the assigned pickup day for yard debris. Make sure trees are completely stripped of decoration and are no longer than four feet in length.

However, if you do not have curbside pickup, bring your tree to the county's "Bring One for the Chipper" event, Jan. 2-7 at Home Depot (2295 Lawrenceville Highway).

The county recycles Christmas trees into mulch that is destined for either wild animal habitats or county beautification projects. County residents can also get mulch for free by visiting Keep DeKalb Beautiful.
