The Week in Review

The top five stories from the previous week on North Druid Hills-Briarcliff Patch.

  1. : Pretty big story. I'm thinking it was missed by quite a few readers who have been following this issue because this letter dropped out of nowhere, and it's been a while since this story was fresh. That said, it'll be interesting to see how the school system and T-Mobile respond if the county actually blocks these cell phone tower building permits once the applications are submitted. I'll be getting in touch with T-Mobile this week to see how they're reacting to this letter.
  2. : Great community story submitted to me by you guys. Good to see everyone rallying around Jason Tyler. Remember, if there's anything going on that you think deserves space on this site, get in touch. I'm at jonathan.cribbs@patch.com.
  3. : Kind of a formality because the park is open, and people are using it, I'm told. But this event should be nice. There's gonna be dog treats and stuff there, so go early.
  4. : Go Lady Vikings.
  5. : A number of readers seem to have reached the same rule of thumb here: Don't answer your door at 3am. I could tell you a crazy story from the late '90s about a fugitive who crashed his car and ran through my hometown neighborhood in suburban Maryland, bleeding and injured, in the middle of the night, knocking on doors as police searched for him. No one answered the door, including a 7-year-old in footed sleepers at one house, and the police captured him after he collapsed on my neighbor's back porch. I pretty much just told you that story, didn't I. It was crazy. Police helicopters with search lights. The whole deal. I was like Tom Brokaw at the cafeteria table the next day. Regardless, don't open your door in the middle of the night.
