The Week in Review

The top five stories from the previous week in the North Druid Hills-Briarcliff area.

  1. : The third story from North Druid Hills-Briarcliff Patch in this ongoing debate over the resignation of school Principal Tricia DeWitt. A ton of material coming from teachers and parents. Very little from the church or the archdiocese.
  2. : North Druid Hills-Briarcliff Patch is still in search of many details regarding this crime, and we'll have a report on that for you early this week hopefully. A somewhat strange double shooting in very easily the most crime-riddled corridor of our community.
  3. : Is our normally quiet community in the middle of some sort of robbery spike? Probably a bit early to say that, but we hope to speak with the police about that this week. (That said, any crime reporter can tell you crime tends to spike in the spring. Kind of odd that the daily weather report can influence whether someone steps out their front door to commit a felony. "Ahhhhh. Fresh air. Today seems like a great day for a classic B&E.")
  4. : David Rotenstein, our resident knee-deep researcher, put together an informative report on the origin of ranch housing in our community and how these post-war homes have managed to stay occupied for so long.
  5. : Look for more on this this week. This is just the beginning of this story, but it could have some of the more noticeable changes–directly and indirectly–on our area in the long term.
