The Week in Review

The top five stories from the previous week in the North Druid Hills-Briarcliff area.

  1. : Sure to be one of the biggest stories of the year. Pretty simple: Walmart wants to come to Medlock, and a lot of people are upset. Although a surprising number of poll takers on our Patch poll have voted in favor of a Walmart, so who knows. Either way, it sounds like there's a pretty good chance this is coming.
  2. : For a while I wasn't so sure crime was worse in Oak Grove since we launched this site in December. Maybe, I thought, we were just writing about it more because essentially no one was writing about crime in these neighborhoods until Patch got here. But there seems to be an uptick in armed robberies and a few disturbing home invasions, leading us to our next top story...
  3. : When people start invading homes with guns and robbing, people start thinking about neighborhood watch groups. Makes sense. Patch will be at this meeting.
  4. : A lot of people have opionions about school system borrowing. We ran a blog entry about that from a woman who believes people should vote against the system's proposed construction program. Some people agree with her, others think her points are irresponsible. You be the judge.
  5. : A boatload of people on a really big boat read this story. It got 56 Facebook likes, which is a lot for this site. Good luck to Trey White. The Citadel is no joke. I used to go up there when I was a reporter in South Carolina. You will not be getting the typical college experience. At least not as I experienced it. Fewer calzones, I am sure.
