Week Ahead: Camp, Blood Drive, Poetry and More

A list of things going on this week in and around the North Druid Hills-Briarcliff area.

  1. WinShape Camps for Communities: Monday. WinShape Camp is hosted by Briarlake Church in Decatur and everyone is welcome to attend. Kids who have completed 1st through 6th grades will get to choose from 18 different activities like sports, cooking, dance, art, science and more when they register for WinShape Camp.
  2. Beer Growler Nation Blood Drive: Friday. Individuals must be at least 17 years of age, weigh 110 pounds and be in generally good health to donate blood. Please bring your Red Cross blood donor card or other form of positive ID when you come to donate.
  3. GYMNASTICS TRYOUTS: Monday. Tucker Elite Competitive Gymnastics team will host gymnastics evaluations for girls interested in level 1-6 competition team.
  4. History of Cornbread: Thursday. Millie Huff Coleman will share family recipes and talk about Atlanta's culinary history at 7 p.m. Thursday at the DeKalb History Center.
  5. A Celebration of James Dickey: Monday. Poets such as David Bottoms will gather to celebrate the publication of The Complete Poems of James Dickey. 7:15 p.m. Monday at the Decatur Library. Free.
