1. Shamrock Forest Clean-Up

When/Where: 9 am Saturday, meet at the Druid Hills (Shamrock) Middle cafeteria

Why Go? Shamrock Forest, located right behind Druid Hills Middle, is not a county park, so it is up to volunteers to maintain it. Please dress in long sleeves and pants and bring gloves, water, shovels, rakes, etc.

When/Where: Clean-up is 9 am Saturday, trail blaze is 12:30 pm Sunday. Both are at Kittredge Park, 1520 Kittredge Park Road, Atlanta

Why Go? Kittredge Park needs some love too--help build walking trails and take out trash and invasive plants. Tools, gloves and refreshments provided. Wear long pants and work shoes.

3. High School Football: , , Druid Hills vs. Cross Keys

When/Where: St. Pius game is Friday at 7:30 pm at St. Pius (2674 Johnson Road, Atlanta), Lakeside game is Saturday at 7:30 pm at Adams Stadium (2383 North Druid Hills Road, Atlanta), Druid Hills game is Friday at 5:15 pm at Adams Stadium

Why Go? It's football season again and if you love the pigskin, why not go check out the local potential stars of tomorrow so you can say you knew them when?

When/Where: Friday at 1:30 pm at Toco Hills-Avis G. Williams Library (1282 McConnell Drive, Decatur)

Why Go? To see the classic A Place in the Sun, plus the event is for adults only, so it should be a quiet viewing experience.

5. See Warrior

When/Where: See showtimes here for or here for Movie Tavern

Why Go? Fans of from-struggle-to-glory sports movies may like this outing from the man who directed 2004's Miracle. Plus, it has a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
