Weekend Planner

Want to know what's going on in the neighborhood this weekend? Patch let's you know.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new bars/restaurants/shops to explore.

  1. When/Where: It's at St. Pius against Pickens on Friday. Game is from 7-9pm.
Why Go: High school basketball in the North Druid Hills-Briarcliff area has been pretty dismal this season with one exception – St. Pius' girls team which nearly went undefeated this season.
Pricing: $7 for adults, $5 for kids

  2. When/Where: 1:30pm on Friday at Toco Hill-Avis G. Williams Library
Why Go: It's free, and the movie is one of the best adaptations of that classic Jane Austen novel. Plus, Keira Knightley was nominated for an Oscar for her performance. It's also a pretty lively movie for a British period piece.
    Pricing: Free

  3. When/Where: 8pm Friday at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta
Why Go: Emma’s Revolution is the duo of award-winning, activist musicians, Pat Humphries and Sandy O, who write songs that become traditions. Their song, "If I Give Your Name," won Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.  Their music has been featured on NPR’s All Things Considered and Pacifica’s Democracy Now!
Price: $12 in advance, $15 at the door

  4. When/Where: From 8-11pm Saturday at Lakeside High School.
Why Go: Because, hopefully, you're a teenager. If you're an adult, and you're considering going, and you're not some sort of chaperone ("Leave room for the Lord!" and so forth) then attending this dance would be awkward. Patch doesn't endorse that.

  5. When/Where: 10am - 9pm Saturday at Northlake Mall.
Why Go: This won't take that long to do, and you might think, "Hmmm, this isn't an event, it's a sale." But you'd be so wrong. Girl Scouts appear one season out of the year to sell these things. And, all of a sudden, when they're there, that's an event. Thin Mints are an event. Patch does not care what you say.
Pricing: It's probably free to stare at the cookies, but you'll need actual cash to buy them.
