Pellom McDaniels III, Emory professor of African American Studies, will discuss his new biography, “The Prince of Jockeys: The Life of Isaac Burns Murphy.” Murphy (1861-1896), a son of slaves, became the first jockey to win the Kentucky Derby three times (1884, 1890 and 1891). His racing win record of 44 percent remains unbeaten in the sport. Location: Jones Room, level 3, Emory’s Woodruff Library.
