Fund-Raiser for Lakeside Student Still Needs Help

Online page, take-out dinner edging campaign closer to goal.

Earlier this week, Georgia Patches ran stories with links to fund-raising campaigns in the metro area on GoFundMe, a website which is a Patch partner.

Now is a good time to provide an update on a campaign in this neighborhood -- the effort to raise funds to buy home physical therapy equipment for Jason Tyler, a 16-year-old Lakeside High School student. Jason is fighting back from a stroke two years ago.

As of Wednesday evening, friends of Jason had raised $1,105 of the remaining $5,000 needed for the equipment on a GoFundMe page. Amy Caldwell wrote: "Wow! Over $1,000 raised! I am blown away by everyone's generosity! We also have over $1,000 in orders for spaghetti dinners. Still more to go but the momentum is on! Thanks everyone!"

The spaghetti dinner she mentions is take-out available Sunday, Dec. 8, from 5-7 p.m. at 1356 Altamont Drive, Decatur 30033 (Across the street from the Leafmore Pool.) You can order ahead through Thursday, Dec. 5.Β  Adult order: $10, Child order: $5. For more information and to place your order, visit here.

Friends of Jason have been working for some time to raise the $14,000 needed for the equipment, which will help him better juggle his time for school and physical therapy.
