Lakeside Lacrosse Club Ends Season on High Note

Young Lakeside lacrosse club wraps up their inaugural season on a high note.

The Lacrosse Club ended its inaugural season on a high note advancing to the quarterfinals of this weekend's NGLL tournament before losing a tightly contested battle to Cambridge High School 6-3. The young Vikings won their first game of the tournament against Union Grove 11-1 and had the quarterfinal game tied 3-3 in the 3rd quarter before falling behind the older and more experienced Cambridge squad.

The Vikings finished the season with a combined record of 12-10. When the season started, 18 of the 31 players on the team had never picked up a Lacrosse stick. Head Coach Joe Szombathy and Assistant Coach Mike Toce spent signficant time with new team teaching them the basics of the game but by the end of the season, each and every player had made a significant contribution to the program.

The club is open to young men grades 8th-12th and who live in the general Lakeside community. For more information about the club or for anyone who might be interested in playing Lacrosse or learning more about the sport, please refer to Lakesidelax.com or contact Michael Kreager at Michael_Kreager@dell.com (404 919-0833).
