Disturbing fireworks over New Years

I can understand noisy fireworks at midnight on New Years Eve, but beginning at 5:30 p.m. on December 31st and extending into 2:30 a.m. on New Years day is excessive and dangerous.  It is excessive into the invasion of privacy for those who must suffer through the loud noises entering their homes and dangerous for the pets whose ear drums are pierced by the shot gun equivalent noises.  You would think we were in some violent
Middle Eastern Country.  Aren't there noise violation ordinances in Dekalb County that can be enforced for these excessive and intrusive sounds?
