Couple Robbed at Gunpoint at Northlake Fast Food Drive-Thru

The incident occurred at the Captain D's restaurant at 2032 Montreal Road on Thursday night.

A Northlake couple was robbed at gunpoint while ordering from the drive-thru of a fast food restaurant on Montreal Road Thursday night, DeKalb County police said.

A 54-year-old man and his wife were sitting in their car in the drive-thru lane at Captain D's at 2032 Montreal Road, preparing to order when they noticed a man standing beside a building next door at about 8:45 p.m., the police report said.

As they ordered, the man walked casually toward their vehicle. The victim told police he figured the man was a panhandler and didn't feel threatened when the suspect approached.

"I need to ask you a question," the man said. "Give me your wallet."

The suspect pulled out a handgun and pressed it into the victim's chest, and he handed over his wallet. The victim's wife asked the robber to return her husband's driver's license, and the suspect returned it. He walked away casually, headed east on Lavista Road, and fled with $300 in cash, a debit and credit card, an insurance card and pictures.

The suspect was described as a white male about 20 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 130 pounds with a thin build. He wore a white T-shirt with an American flag on the front, shorts and a blue baseball cap.
