Armed drug dealer assaults Decatur teen
A Decatur teen told DeKalb County police he was assaulted Saturday after he pushed a drug dealer who was trying to sell him cocaine.

The 16-year-old victim was in apartment complex in the 1400 block of Druid Valley Drive when the dealer introduced himself as "Y.B." on Saturday afternoon, the police report said. The victim told the dealer he didn't use cocaine, and the suspect gave him his phone number in case he had friends who wanted to buy the drug.

The victim said he walked with the dealer to a nearby Chevron gas station on North Druid Hills Road after the suspect said he would buy him a cigar. But when the two returned to the apartment complex, the dealer took out a bag of cocaine and began snorting some of it. He then took out a gun and offered to sell it to the victim, the report said.

The victim told police he pushed the dealer, and the dealer hit him in the face with the gun at about 4pm. The victim fell, and the suspect took his wallet, including $60 in cash.

The suspect was described as a black male about 6 feet tall, about 185 pounds with a muscular build and short, black hair, the report said. He wore gray shorts and a black tank top and carried a black or gray handgun.

Woman's Clairmont Road home broken into second time in two weeks
A Clairmont Road woman told DeKalb County police her home has been broken into twice in two weeks.

The 31-year-old woman who lives in the 1400 block of Clairmont Road told police she left her home at about 6:50am Wednesday, the police report said. She returned at about 6:45pm to find items inside her home thrown all over the floor.

The back door was forced open, and its frame was damaged. Nothing was taken, however, the report said.

Teen arrested at McDaniel Park on marijuana charges
DeKalb County police arrested a 17-year-old at Charles McDaniel Park on July 1 after they found several bags of suspected marijuana in his trunk.

A police officer noticed a car parked in the a lot in the 2200 block of Heritage Drive, and when he spoke with the driver, he noticed the driver was extremely nervous and shaking, the police report said. The officer asked the teen if there was anything illegal inside the car, and the driver said, "No, sir."

The officer told the teen his nervousness concerned him and asked if he could search the vehicle.

"I don't think that would be OK," the teen said.

The officer told the teen to stay in the car while he called a K9 unit to come to the scene and smell the vehicle.

"Officer, can I be honest with you?" the teen said. "There is something illegal in the vehicle. I'm sorry I lied to you."

The teen showed the officer three bags marijuana and a pipe. The teen told the officer it was about an ounce of marijuana he had obtained for a friend, the report said.

The teen was taken to DeKalb County Jail and charged possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and loitering.
