A selection of recent crimes reported to DeKalb County police in the North Druid Hills-Briarcliff area.

Three minors charged with burgling North Druid Hills apartment
Three 17-year-olds were arrested and charged with burglary Monday after they were caught breaking into an apartment in North Druid Hills, DeKalb County police said. 

The three men managed to steal several Nintendo Wii video games, an iPod, a camera, an Apple laptop computer, among other items, before they were arrested before noon, the police report said.

While responding to the burglary call at about 10:30am, DeKalb County police noticed two suspects at the intersection of North Druid Hills Road and Merry Lane. They picked them up. Police later determined the two were involved in the burglary of an apartment rented by a 24-year-old woman at 2312 Druid Oaks Dr.

The third suspect was also found in the area, and police found the stolen items in the trunk of a car the suspects had been seen in. The items were given back to the victim, and the three juveniles were taken to DeKalb County Jail.

Police respond to shots fired near Buford Highway strip club
An unknown man fired several shots outside strip club on Buford Highway after a fight early in the morning on March 2, DeKalb County police said.

A security guard at the strip club told police two men got into a verbal altercation outside the club at 4075 Buford Highway at about 4:30am, the police report said. One of the men pulled a handgun from his pants, ran into the neighboring parking lot and fired seven to eight rounds in Follies' direction.

A police officer found several shell casings in the Pep Boys lot. No one was injured and witnesses did not know the shooter's identity.

Man robbed at gunpoint in Wyntrace Apartments
A 37-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint outside his home in The Wyntrace Apartments on Saturday afternoon, DeKalb County police said.

The man was approaching his apartment door at 2281 Plaster Rd. when two men came up to him from behind – one of them pointing a pistol – and repeatedly said, "Gimme the money! Dinero, dinero!"

The victim handed over $20 in cash, and the suspects fled the scene east on foot toward the Huntington Station apartment complex/Johnson Road area, the police report said.

The first suspect holding the gun – possibly a TEC-9 – was described as a Hispanic male between 16 and 17 years old, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 140 pounds with a skinny build. He was clean-shaven and wore a black baseball cap, a black T-shirt and gray khakis. He spoke English and poor Spanish.

The suspect was also described as a Hispanic male between 16 and 17 years old. Same height and weight. He wore a gray jacket and also spoke English and poor Spanish.

Woman's son beaten for sunflower seeds on Lawrenceville Highway
A Decatur woman told police her son was beaten while walking home from school Wednesday because he refused to give another boy some of his sunflower seeds, DeKalb County police said.

The boy was walking into the Northgate Manor apartment complex, 2388 Lawrenceville Highway, eating sunflower seeds at about 4pm when the boy saw three males, the police report said. One of them approached the boy and asked for some sunflower seeds. When the boy refused, he was hit in the face five times. The boy gave the assailant some of his seeds, and the assailant walked away.

Police were unable to find the suspect.
