Man fires pistol at car in Red Roof Inn's parking lot
A man fired several shots at a car he fled in the 's parking lot on North Druid Hills Road early Sunday morning, witnesses told DeKalb County police.

Two tenants said they saw a man firing a pistol at a car in the lot at 1960 North Druid Hills Road shortly after 4am, the police report said. One witness said he saw the suspect get out of a silver vehicle and run away while shooting at people inside.

The silver car fled, running a red light at the intersection of North Druid Hills Road and Buford Highway and then stopped at a nearby gas station momentarily before it left for I-85, and the witness lost sight of the car.

A security guard also saw a black Dodge Charger speed away from the hotel shortly after the shots were heard and spotted a silver Mercedes leaving, though it didn't appear to be in a rush, he told police.

An officer collected 10 9mm shell casings from the ground at the scene.

Apartment burgled at Conservatory of Druid Hills
A laptop and other items were stolen during a break-in at an apartment in the on North Druid Hills Road on Monday, DeKalb County police said.

The 51-year-old victim told police she left her apartment at about 8:40am and returned at about 9pm to discover her front door was kicked in, and several items were stolen from inside, the police report said. The laptop was valued at about $600, and about $30 worth jewelry and $15 in cash was also stolen.

Computer, GPS unit stolen from car on Trailmark Drive
A laptop computer and a GPS unit were stolen from a car parked in a driveway on Trailmark Drive, DeKalb County police said.

The 43-year-old victim told police the items were likely stolen between about 12:21pm Saturday and 11:30am Sunday, the police report said. There were no signs of forced entry to the car, which was parked in the 2100 block of Trailmark Drive.

The laptop and GPS unit were valued at about $900 together, and a $75 computer backpack and $2 in change were also stolen. It was the second time someone broke into her car to steal change, the victim said.
