Nearly $5,000 in electronics and jewelry was stolen from a Northlake home Tuesday, DeKalb County police said.

The 74-year-old victim who lives in the 3100 block of Kings Arms Court left his home at about 9:20am, the police report said. When he returned home shortly after 4pm, he found the garage door open. A basement door was forced open and damaged. Several bedrooms in the house were ransacked, and several items were missing: an Apple desktop computer, a Dell laptop, a television, a $300 coin collection and about $1,000 in jewelry.

The victim told police roofers working at a neighbor's home said they saw a red Dodge Ram pickup parked near the home while the victim was gone, but they didn't offer a suspect description.
