Crime Blotter, Nov. 11-16

A selection of crimes in our area reported to DeKalb County police.

Burglary on King Arthur Circle
There was a burglary on the 2400 block of King Arthur Circle on Nov. 11 or 12, DeKalb County police said.

Sometime between 4pm Nov. 11 and 8:30am on Nov. 12, the house was broken into through a back window that was observed missing its screen cover and pried open. The front door was also left open when the homeowner returned on Nov. 12. Items stolen from the house include a generator worth $3,500, various Craftsman tools worth $4,500, a red Snapper lawnmower worth $1,000, a Craftsman wood chipper worth $200 and a Craftsman gas blower worth $100.

Armed robbery at Highland North Apartments
A pedestrian was robbed at gunpoint at the (3510 Buford Highway) on Nov. 13, police said.

A man was walking toward the apartments from a local store. When he reached the Building P, a man snuck up on him, showed a chrome- or nickel-plated semi-automatic handgun and said, "Give me everything you got."

The man noted that the suspect spoke perfect, accent-less English. He gave the suspect his wallet, and the suspect stole $90 before giving it back then left on foot.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 25 years old, 5 feet 7 inches and 150 pounds, wearing a white or grey zippered hooded sweatshirt and light blue jeans.

Forced entry at Exxon
A police officer responding to an alarm call at (1975 Clairmont Rd.) someone had broken into the station on Nov. 15, police said.

It was about 3:30am when the police officer responded to the call, noticing that one of the side doors was unlocked, although not by force. The officer saw candy bags on the floor of the gas station, a broken ceiling tile in the back storage area and the restroom in disarray. The suspect was hiding in the restroom, standing on top of a piece of metal shelving and with half of the ceiling removed.

The gas station’s owner arrived and showed the police officer video from surveillance cameras. The suspect had been holding things in his hands, but the items couldn’t be located after he was taken into custody. The owner recognized the suspect, stating that he had been in the store at about 4:30 pm that day. The owner said the suspect had been in the restroom for about half an hour and that half of the restroom key was stuck in the door. The owner added that the suspect and his friends tend to steal some bags of chips or some candy every time they come into the store.

Armed robbery and shots fired on Shallowford Road
There was an armed robbery with gunshots fired on the 2800 block of Shallowford Road on Nov. 15, police said.

At about 11:13pm, the victim said that a suspect and two associates pointed a gun at him and robbed him inside his home. The suspects were guests in the victim’s house at the time. The victim went into the kitchen to make refreshments when one of the suspects, nicknamed Roc, walked into the kitchen with the victim, put a gun to the back of his head and said he would shoot him if he didn’t give him money. The victim turned around and tried to reason with him, but Roc hit him with the pistol and it accidentally fired. The victim fell to the floor and said “just take the money.” Roc took his wallet, which had $80 in it, and his phone. The victim was unharmed aside from swelling in his right eye area.

While this was happening, another victim was sitting in the living room, being held at gunpoint by another suspect. The second suspect never tried to take anything from him, but kept saying “Shut the [expletive] up and don’t look at me or I will kill you.” He complied and was unharmed.

The third suspect stayed seated in the living room until the robbery was finished. All three then fled in a newer-model black Jeep Mountaineer.

There were three other adults in the house during the robbery. Two were in a spare bedroom and another was in the master bedroom. All three heard the gunshot and the victim saying “just take the money.”

The three suspects are described as follows:

Roc: black male, age 22, 5’9”, 190 pounds, armed.

Suspect 2: black male, 18-19 years old, 5’6”, 160 pounds, wearing a dark windbreaker and armed with a pistol.

Suspect 3: black male, 15-16 years old, 5’6”, wearing all black.

Peeping tom incident

A peeping tom was noticed on the 2000 block of Oak Shadow Drive on November 16, police said.

It was about midnight when police responded to the victim, who said she was in her kitchen when she noticed a shadow in the window. She said the person had been looking through the window for at least the past weekend and that the person always appeared between 11 pm and 1 am. The victim said she called 911 once before in reference to this person. Police looked around but didn’t see anyone, though he told the victim that the area will be patrolled more often.
