A woman living on the 1700 block of North Akin Drive was a victim of a home invasion on October 28, police said.

She arrived home at about 1:45 pm and did not notice any vehicles or anyone around her house. She parked her car in her garage and unloaded items from it before pushing a button to close the garage door. However, she heard the door stop and open again. She looked over to see why and noticed a man inside her garage. Once she noticed the man, she closed the door leading into her house, though she was unable to set her home alarm system before the man forced open the door she’d closed. When he forced the door open, he knocked her down because she was right on the other side of it. The suspect pointed a gun at her, told her to lie down on the kitchen floor and made her remove her wedding rings. He added that she couldn’t get up or look at him or he would shoot her.

She stayed on the floor for about five minutes before getting up to lock herself in the bedroom and call police. At that time, she wasn’t sure if the man was still in her house and she didn’t see him leave. She did not notice anything else taken from her house.
