Two men already in jail on other charges were arrested and charged in the fatal shooting last month of a 9-month-old boy in DeKalb County.

DeKalb Public Safety Director Cedric Alexander said at a Thursday morning press conference that Marco Watson, 36, and Devin Thomas, 18, will face murder and aggravated assault charges stemming from the May 10 home invasion that killed Kendarius Edwards and seriously injured his mother, grandmother and another woman.

Watson was in jail for a probation violation and Thomas for making a false statement, the AJC reported.

Alexander did not say which man may have fired the fatal shot.

The men allegedly were wearing masks when they broke into mother Tanyika Smith’s home on Tolani Farm Road in Stone Mountain on Saturday night, May 10. They reportedly chased the three women into a bathroom and opened fire.

Smith, who was hit in the face by a bullet, told WSB-TV she was holding Kandarius as the group took cover.

According to police after the incident, the baby was shot three to four times at point-blank range, WGCL TV.

Police said Thursday the shootings may have been in retaliation in a string of violence that started with a fatal shooting at a May 3 house party, AJC reported. A possible witness to that shooting was found dead a week later and Thomas may have been friends with that victim, police said.

Violence is not a racial issue. It appears to be a cultural issue. None of the perpetrators of America's recent mass shootings have been Black. None of our Presidential assassins have been Black. The two Wisconsin tweens involved in the Slenderman stabbing were not Black. The recent murder of the police officer in Griffin wasn't committed by a black person. I could go on, but I'll stop there.

David it's a racial cultural issue. You have several groups of races in the country and several cultures. That's the problem, we are not America any more its do your own thing land. Speak your own language land. However its always pay my way out of your pocket land. This is a big problem in the black community that you don't see in the Mexican and White communities as much. On the other hand you don't see as many black kids shooting up schools as you do white kids. So it's a race and culture issue it seems. If we could just all get together and be Americans again then we could get this stuff sorted out.

I did just a little googling and it appears that over 52% of violent crime in the U.S. is committed by blacks while the black population in the U.s. is less than 15%. I found that astounding. Correct me if you have other data. Living in Atlanta metro the percentages look very different. Bottom line here is most folks, black or white, don't set out to kill babies...except by abortion and that's a different soapbox!

The common theme in just about all this violence is gun violence not culture or race since there is enough to go around. With a nation that has 300 million guns, it should not be a surprise. The question is what do we do about it. Until something is done , NRA has our politicians bought, we keep comment like we do here.

Justin Ross Harris, 33, of Cobb County, Ga., is charged with murder and second-degree cruelty to a child in the death of his son, Cooper. Harris told police that he forgot to drop his son off at daycare on June 18, leaving the boy in the SUV for more than seven hours as outside temperatures climbed to about 88 degrees.
