Nobody Hurt When Honda Clips School Bus in Decatur

Decatur police said the car was trying to pass when the accident happened on West College Avenue.

Decatur police said a car and a school bus were involved in minor wreck Thursday afternoon.

Capt. Scott Richards said a 1994 Honda Accord tried to pass and cipped the rear bumper of the bus. The wreck happened about 4 p.m. in the eastbound lane of West College Avenue, near the intersection with McDonough Street.

Nobody was hurt and damage was minor, Richards said. Police wrote a warning to the Honda driver for failing to maintain their lane. The bus carried students but was not full, he said.

Wait, the Honda that clipped the bus got a WARNING, not a ticket?

WOW! That was all!? There were two fire and rescue vehicles plus a fire truck and several police cars. It looked a lot more serious than what I'm reading here. Traffic was backed up on College Ave from McDonough to Park Place which is the direction I was coming from. Interesting.

That's what the police told me.

Decatur Public Safety take no chances when responding to an incident. Everybody gets called out because, until they get there, they don't know the extent of damage and/or injuries.
