Reader: Group of Auto Thefts in Medlock

Received word from reader Brittany, an auto theft victim, about a number of thefts in the Medlock area.

Here's her note:

I live in the Medlock Park neighborhood and had my 1999 Acura stolen overnight from our single-family home driveway off Willivee. When I was at the rental car place, another couple, who lives at off N Druid Hills, also had their 1999 Honda stolen from inside the complex overnight. They mentioned the police officer said there were other stolen Honda's overnight in our area.

As it turns out, Brittany is right. At least according to the DeKalb County Police Department's crime map.

The map shows a series of auto thefts in the area between Friday and Monday, with three of four occurring Monday in north Medlock. See the attached image from the crime map.

As for the make of cars, that should come as no surprise. I've done crime reporting all along the East Coast, and Hondas and Acuras are always at the top of car thieves' list.
