Toco Hill Longhorn Steakhouse Decimated by Blaze

There were no injuries reported in the 2-alarm fire that DeKalb fire officials believe was sparked in the rear of the building near the kitchen.

A popular DeKalb eatery that had served patrons for three decades was destroyed by flames early Wednesday morning.

The blaze at the Longhorn Steakhouse on North Druid Hills Road in Toco Hill broke out around 1:30 a.m. and took at least 35 firefighters to extinguish the 2-alarm fire.

Witnesses indicated they heard an explosion and saw the roof blow off. DeKalb fire officials believe the fire was sparked in the rear of the building near the kitchen.

There were no injuries reported and the investigation continues.

A spokesperson for Darden Restaurants released a statement Wednesday morning:

"We are extremely thankful no one was inside the restaurant at the time of the fire. We appreciate the efforts of DeKalb County firefighters and are grateful they are all safe. Right now, the well-being of our team members is our number one priority. We are already working to place them at other LongHorn locations, as well as other Darden restaurants, in Atlanta."
