Woman, Sons Carjacked at Gunpoint Near North DeKalb Mall

The early Saturday morning carjacking occurred at 2900 block of Cedar Creek Parkway.

A woman and her two sons were carjacked near early Sunday morning, DeKalb County police said.

The woman was driving a rental car in the 2900 block of Cedar Creek Parkway to visit her sister's apartment at about 2:50am, according to the police report. As she entered the apartment complex, she noticed two men in a silver vehicle pass her.

She parked the car in front of her sister's building, and when she stepped out of the car, one of the men she noticed approached her with a handgun, the report said.

"Give me the money, and keep your head down," the man said to her.

The woman gave the man her purse, and the suspect ran to the silver vehicle to drop off the purse with the second suspect. He ran back to the victim and told her to remove her 4-year-old and 6-year-old sons from the car, the report said.

The suspect drove the victim's rental car out of the complex, colliding with another parked car on the way out. In addition to the car valued at $15,000, the woman lost her credit cards, cell phone, birth certificate and Social Security card, the report said.
