County Chooses PDK Site for Animal Shelter

The DeKalb County Board of Commissioners chose a site near DeKalb Peachtree Airport for the county's new animal shelter Tuesday.

The 5-acre Chamblee site will be the new home of the shelter, which will cost $8 million to build, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The site was chosen from a narrowed list of three that included Johns Homestead, a Tucker park. That location drew heavy criticism from supporters who swarmed board meetings over the last two months, protesting its potential selection.
