Don't Bring Styrofoam to Recycling Day
The city of Decatur is no longer taking styrofoam at its Electronics Recycling Day, but you can still bring pretty much anything with a cord.
If you plan to bring some things to Decatur’s Electronics Recycling Day on Sept. 29, just a heads up that they’re not collecting styrofoam anymore.
You’ll have to wait until a date is announced for a new Paper Shredding and Styrofoam Recycling Event sometime this fall.
But you can still recycle cell phones, desktop computers, laptops, typewriters – pretty much anything with a cord except microwaves. For a full list, look here.

The next event will be Saturday, Sept. 29 from 9am to 1pm at Decatur Public Works, 2635 Talley St.
Electronics dropped off that day will be sorted and disassembled into raw materials or cleaned for reuse. Recyclables must be dropped off during the hours of the event. Early drop-offs are not possible.

TVs will be recycled for a minimal fee of $10 cash only per TV set with exact change. There is no charge to recycle other items. Any metro area resident can participate. And by recycling, you’re keeping these items out of the landfills.
